Wrestling news and results? I’m not a big fan of Chris Jericho, but there is no doubt that he is one of this generation’s most convincing and contentious characters. A perfect mix of wrestling talent and mic work, Jericho is consistently entertaining. He is credited as being the first Undisputed WWF Champion, having unified the World Championship and the WWF Championship by defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night in 2001. Surely, he is one of the greatest wrestlers in history.
Frequently dropping into the splits during her entrance and incorporating back handsprings into her matches, it’s no surprise that Penelope Ford came from a gymnastics background. During her gymnast days, her favorite event was high beam and she uses those skills today to walk along the top rope. Many fans know that Brandi Rhodes is the creative director at AEW, but they might not realize that she is the first Black woman to hold an executive leadership position in any major North American wrestling promotion. As the creative director, Rhodes is committed to diversity and inclusion and wants to make sure she is always learning something new about someone else’s experience. Not surprisingly, she’s always been ambitious. At a young age, she was inspired to become a figure skater by Debi Thomas, a Black skater who took the bronze medal in the 1988 Olympics. Rhodes skated competitively from age 4 until college, where she left the sport to have a “true college experience.” She later went on to obtain her Master’s degree in broadcast journalism.
Wrestling was probably the most popular sport of the ancient Greeks. Young men belonged to palaestras, or wrestling schools, as the focal point of their social life. Illustrations of wrestling on Greek vases and coins are common throughout all periods of ancient Greece, but all that can be told from it is that the style was loose wrestling and that wrestlers, as did all Greek athletes, competed naked. Wrestling was part of the Olympic Games from 776 bce. There were two wrestling championships in these games: a toppling event for the best two of three falls; and the pankration (Latin: pancratium), which combined wrestling and boxing and ended in the submission of one contestant.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many entertainment businesses to shut down, either temporarily or permanently. However, in this COVID-19 crisis, two premier pro wrestling entities have kept airing fresh content every week. One of the two pro wrestling giants is WWE as the company has managed to find a way to work around the situation. In all these years of storytelling, WWE has seldom failed to provide us with unique stories, moments, and facts – and we love these tidbits. For instance, the fact that WrestleMania 16 (2000) had no men’s singles match has always fascinated me. See additional details at WWE Stars news.
From his early days as the Legend killer to his modem gimmick as the Viper, the third generation star burst onto the scene as part of Evolution. He became the youngest world champion in WWE history in 2004 at age 24 and his RKO finisher has since become one of wrestling’s most popular finishing moves. The most electrifying man in sports entertainment has been a trailblazer for wrestlers to forge a path into the mainstream entertainment business. The Rock was towards the end of his legendary WWE run during the 2000s before he cemented his name as Hollywood’s highest-paid actor Dwayne Johnson. Nevertheless, his icon vs icon match against Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X8 in 2002 cemented his legacy as one of the best of all time.
